Thanks for a detailed reply. I will update your collaborative idioms document as suggested. Now coming to the resolutions you have provided

1. I already tried what you suggested except using JS. Somehow my string operations have failed so far. I must be doing something wrong. Initially I tried using "contains" or "Starts with" option but neither worked.
2. In your specific example of PO statuses, I've faced the same problem. I tested the final status - status 5 I think. If it was blank the ones I wanted were 1-3, if it wasn't blank they were 2-4. I don't think there's a generic solution to this sort of problem. You have to take each transaction as it comes - Thanks for the tip
3. I think I am not on SP03. Need to check though.

Will soon update the idioms as suggested by you. Once again thanks for your help and I hope to get it in future as well.
